Meet Jonathan Pollard

Jonathan Pollard is a competition lawyer based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is the principal of Pollard PLLC. Jonathan and his team have extensive experience litigating unfair competition, trademark and false advertising matters. He has been involved in more than 300 disputes in the intellectual property context, including claims over trade secrets, restrictive covenants, trademark infringement, trade dress infringement, and cybersquatting.

Pollard has succeeded at the appellate level, both in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and in the Florida District Courts of Appeal, and his arguments have shaped the law through landmark opinions that are now routinely cited throughout their jurisdictions.

Because of his success, Pollard has been recognized by Super Lawyers, most recently in 2017, and quoted as a subject matter expert in the national media. Jonathan prides himself on his legal successes, the growth of Pollard PLLC, and his work in the community work.

About the Firm

In April 2012, Jonathan Pollard left Boies, Schiller & Flexner and began working as a true solo practitioner. He had no partners, no associates and no support staff. That didn’t stop him from winning cases. Over the past several years, Pollard has won numerous seminal decisions related to unfair competition. Along the way, he has built a small but growing litigation firm with a  demonstrable track record of success.

The firm counts among its ranks graduates of prestigious universities and law schools, members of law reviews and academic journals, and members of academic honor societies including Phi Beta Kappa and Order of the Coif.

The firm has achieved dozens of favorable outcomes for our clients in both trial and appellate courts. The firm has won key decisions in Florida State trial courts, the Florida District Courts of Appeal, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Some of the firm’s victories have led to leading decisions in the unfair competition space and have helped shape Florida law.

The Pollard PLLC Mission

  • Focus: Pollard PLLC focuses on unfair competition matters and has extensive experience litigating trademark and false advertising claims. If you have questions, they have answers. Because they litigate these types of cases every day.
  • Efficiency: As a small firm, Pollard PLLC does not have hundreds of lawyers. And they don’t need hundreds of lawyers. Cases are efficiently and leanly staffed and the firm makes maximum use of technology. The firm repeatedly has beaten mega-firms in litigation, often while charging clients a fraction of what they would have paid at a large, national firm. In the past few years alone, Pollard PLLC has scored significant legal victories over Proskauer Rose, Ford Harrison, Holland & Knight, Wicker Smith and more.
  • Business Savvy  Many firms view litigation in a vacuum. We don’t. We view litigation as a tool to achieve a desired business goal. We never lose sight of the business realities. We use every available tool to solve our clients’ problems. That means litigation, arbitration, negotiation, or administrative proceedings.
  • Community-Minded: The firm’s principal, Jonathan Pollard, is a pillar in the community and has received recognition for his charitable work. Pollard was honored for his pro bono work by the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the City of Lauderdale Lakes designated November 25th as Jonathan Pollard Day in recognition of his work with the nationally competitive debate team at Boyd Anderson High School. The firm strives to follow in its principal’s footsteps. Pollard PLLC is committed to spending at least 10% of our time providing free legal services to people who cannot afford representation. Moreover, the firm is proud of its involvement in youth advocacy and education reform issues.
